Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Registered Nurses to join the Heart Failure team as a Nurse Practitioner Candidate – Heart Failure.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role
This role requires the successful candidate to develop advanced nursing practice and clinical leadership capabilities in the assessment and management of patients with heart failure.
Working under the supervision of endorsed Nurse Practitioners and senior medical clinicians, the candidate will progressively develop their clinical expertise and scope of practice towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
This role is responsible for delivering protected, evidence-based and patient-centred heart failure care across inpatient, outpatient and community settings; collaborating with multidisciplinary teams; contributing to education, research and quality improvement; and progressing towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner, specialising in Heart Failure.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated clinical experience in cardiology and/or heart failure management, with experience in critical care, emergency nursing or other relevant specialty areas highly regarded.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, a relevant postgraduate qualification in the speciality field, and a minimum of two years’ full-time equivalent advanced nursing practice experience.
- Accepted and enrolled in an NMBA-approved Nurse Practitioner program of study.
- Demonstrated professional and clinical leadership, mentoring, coaching, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centred care, professional development and progression towards Nurse Practitioner endorsement.
