Occupational Therapist - Community Aged Care

Looking for an Occupational Therapy role that offers genuine flexibility, meaningful clinical work and a team that will support you?

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a highly supportive and cohesive multidisciplinary Restorative Care program, helping older people maintain their independence, safety and quality of life within their own homes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an OT who enjoys working autonomously in the community while still having the support and connection of an experienced Allied Health team.

The role

Working predominantly from home, you will manage a community-based caseload, completing home visits across Melbourne's southern and south-eastern metropolitan region, including areas such as Brighton, Noble Park, Narre Warren and surrounding suburbs.

Your role will include

- Comprehensive, person-centred home and functional assessments

- Assistive technology and equipment assessments and trials

- Home modification assessments and recommendations

- Providing practical recommendations to improve clients' safety and independence

- Client and carer education and support

- Liaising with Care Partners and other stakeholders to coordinate client goals

- Working collaboratively with Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Allied Health Assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary team

Flexibility that actually means flexibility

We know that not everyone wants - or can accommodate - a traditional working week.

This position is approximately 2-4 days per week, but there is considerable flexibility around how you structure those hours.

You might choose to work 2-4 standard days,

or spread your hours across five shorter days to fit around school hours or other commitments.

When you're not visiting clients in the community, you can work from home, giving you greater control over your working week.

New to community OT? That's okay too.

Previous community or aged care experience would be fantastic, but it isn't essential.

If this is your first move into a community-based OT role, you'll have access to ongoing mentoring, guidance and support from an experienced and collaborative team while you build your confidence.

We're looking for someone with strong OT foundations, excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in helping older people remain independent at home.

What you'll bring

- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent recognised qualification

- Current AHPRA registration

- Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A practical, person-centred approach
- A genuine interest in working with older people

- Community or aged care experience is desirable, but not essential

What's on offer?

- Highly flexible part-time hours - approximately 2-4 days per week

- Option to work shorter days across five days to accommodate school hours

- Work from home between community visits

- Generous travel allowance for home visits

- Salary negotiable depending on experience

- Supportive and cohesive multidisciplinary Allied Health team

- Ongoing mentoring and support

- Autonomy to manage your workload and community visits

- Meaningful work helping older people remain safely and independently at home

Interested?

If you've been looking for an OT position where you can continue doing meaningful clinical work without your job taking over your life, this could be a great fit.

Whether you're an experienced community OT or considering community-based practice for the first time, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply via SEEK today or contact Renae at McArthur on 03 9828 6*** for a confidential discussion.
