Occupational Therapist – Child Matters | Teen Matters
2026 graduates are encouraged to apply
Busselton, Western Australia | Start date negotiable – as late as January 2027 Are you an Occupational Therapist who wants to work with children and families, make a genuine difference, and enjoy a excellent lifestyle close to the beach?
Child Matters | Teen Matters is looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team in beautiful Busselton.
We are a small, well-established service supporting children, teenagers and families across the South West. We work primarily with children with developmental concerns and disabilities, particularly autism, and are committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based and neuro-affirming care. One of our goals is to support entire family networks with genuine care.
And we genuinely enjoy coming to work!
Our clinic is a beautiful, newly renovated home-style space with gardens, a therapy gym and even resident chickens. Unlike many larger providers, we have a physical workplace where clinicians can connect, collaborate and support one another throughout the day.
Why join us?
We believe great clinicians need a great environment in which to work and grow. You will be joining an experienced and supportive team that includes clinical psychology, psychology, speech pathology, child and adolescent counselling, early intervention, family support and occupational therapy, as well as diagnostic services and social groups.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Work alongside experienced clinicians from a range of disciplines
- Develop your skills through regular supervision, mentoring and collaboration
- Build a varied caseload based around your interests and experience
- Develop an area of clinical interest or specialty within the practice
- Work with children and families in clinic, home and school settings
- Be part of a genuine wrap-around service for families
- Access administrative support so you can focus on clinical work
- Receive support for professional development that aligns with your interests and career goals
- Enjoy a flexible and family-friendly workplace
- Receive 3 paid professional development days per year
- Receive paid supervision as required
- Have access to a shared work vehicle for local work
- Receive up to $3,000 relocation assistance, where applicable
- Work in a salaried position with paid leave and other employment entitlements
- Access part-time work options
New graduates are very welcome
We have experience supporting new graduates and early-career clinicians and understand that becoming a confident OT takes time. You won't be expected to walk in and immediately manage a full caseload on your own. We can provide a graduated introduction to your caseload, with supervision, mentoring and support as you develop your clinical skills and confidence.
If you're a new graduate with enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine interest in working with children, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
You will work with children and teenagers with developmental concerns and disabilities. Experience in autism is preferred, but a solid interest and willingness to learn is equally important. We are particularly interested in clinicians who want to develop their practice in a neuro-affirming way.
You will have opportunities to work across different environments and alongside other disciplines, giving you a broad and rewarding clinical experience.
If you have an area of interest or specialty you'd particularly like to develop, we're happy to discuss how this could fit within our practice.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Qualified as an Occupational Therapist and registered with, or eligible for registration with, AHPRA
- Interested in working with children with disabilities, particularly autism
- Committed to evidence-based and neuro-affirming practice
- Able to demonstrate strong assessment and practical skills
- An excellent written and verbal communicator
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Enthusiastic, motivated and willing to learn
- Eligible for a Working with Children Check
- Covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Licensed to drive and able to provide a roadworthy vehicle for local client visits
