Open Spaces Maintenance Officer x 2
Permanent / Full Time
Location – Cannonvale
Base salary between $71,971.55 per annum to $73,543.67 per annum

About The Role:
Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking applications for 2 x Open Spaces Maintenance Officers to join our Open Spaces and Cemeteries team based at the Cannonvale Depot.
If you enjoy working outdoors and take pride in maintaining parks, gardens and public spaces, this is an opportunity to be part of a team that helps keep the Whitsunday region looking its best.
This hands-on role delivers a range of open space maintenance and labouring services across the Jubilee Pocket to Shute Harbour area, contributing to the high standard presentation, safety and functionality of Council's parks, gardens, streetscapes and community spaces. Working with a supportive team, you will play an key role in enhancing the liveability and natural beauty of one of Australia's most sought-after regions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Undertaking mowing, brush cutting, edging, vegetation control, litter collection and general open space maintenance.
- Maintaining and developing garden beds and streetscapes through planting, mulching, pruning, watering and weed control.
- Installing, inspecting and maintaining park infrastructure, including furniture, signs, fences,
guideposts, bollards and bins.
- Completing minor repairs, painting, pressure cleaning, graffiti removal and basic carpentry tasks within your skills and training.
- Operating and caring for Council vehicles, plant and equipment, including trucks, trailers, ride-on mowers and brushcutters.
- Recording completed works and defects and supporting wider Open Spaces and Cemeteries activities as required.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current MR Driver Licence, or the willingness and ability to obtain one, and a General Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card).
- The physical capability and demonstrated ability to safely undertake outdoor labouring and maintenance activities.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience operating ride-on mowers, brushcutters and other small plant used in open space maintenance will be highly regarded.
