We're seeking an experienced Payroll and HR Coordinator to join our team on a 6 month parental leave contract, working 2 days per week. We understand the importance of balancing work and family commitments and are open to discussing school hours arrangements for the right candidate.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Finance Manager, this role will provide specialist payroll support and coordination for approximately 130 employees while also providing administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, employment documentation and HR systems.
This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional looking for flexibility while continuing to apply their specialist skills in a purpose driven organisation.
About the Role The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialist payroll support and coordination, ensuring accurate, compliant and confidential payroll services across the organisation. The role also provides administrative support across key HR and workforce processes.
You will be responsible for:
Payroll
- Processing fortnightly payroll through Employment Hero Payroll
- Maintaining payroll records and employee data
- Processing leave, allowances, timesheet adjustments and payroll variations
- Interpreting and applying awards, employment agreements and employment conditions
- Ensuring payroll compliance with legislative and organisational requirements
- Preparing payroll reports and reconciliations
- Managing payroll enquiries with professionalism and discretion
- Identifying opportunities for payroll process improvement and system optimisation
HR Coordination
- Preparing employment contracts, contract variations and employment correspondence
- Coordinating onboarding and offboarding administration
- Maintaining Employment Hero and employee records
- Verifying Working With Children Checks and pre-employment documentation
- Supporting recruitment administration, interview coordination and candidate communication
- Assisting with general people and compliance administration
About You
You are an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in accuracy, compliance and confidentiality.
You enjoy working independently, solving problems and ensuring employees have confidence that their pay and employment records are managed professionally and correctly.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated end to end payroll experience
- Experience working with multiple awards, enterprise agreements or industrial instruments
- Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Highly Regarded
- Experience using Employment Hero Payroll
- Experience within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector
- Experience interpreting the Children's Services Award and/or Educational Services (Teachers) Award
- Previous HR administration or recruitment coordination experience
