The late Rev Dr Brian Phillips was a founding member of the Uniting Church in SA Environmental Action Group (“EAG”). Brian championed the conviction that caring for the earth is a core responsibility of Christian faith.
To carry on Brian’s vision, the Environmental Action Group (EAG) of the Uniting Church in SA, working with Mission Resourcing and the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology, seeks to create pathways for young people to pursue environmental study, activism and service, grounded in both science and faith.
We are seeking applications for the position of Project Officer (Research) (0.2FTE) to conduct research on the attitudes of young people towards caring for the earth and the environment and report on their potential pathways to express their commitment to the environment as part of their Christian faith.
This project will also support the Uniting Church Assembly’s “Vision for a Just Australia”, which calls on all Uniting Church people to work towards specific climate, environmental, and justice goals.
The Project Officer (Research) will be responsible to the Executive Officer, Mission Resourcing through the Mission Activator, for day-to-day operations. The Project Officer (Research)
will also report to a committee comprised of members of the EAG, Mission Resourcing and the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology for support and guidance as the project progresses.
The successful applicant will have strong research, analytical, and reporting skills, along with robust organisational and time management skills. The ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, particularly young people, is a key requirement of the position.
A graduate degree in a relevant field related to research, environmental studies, community development, education or equivalent experience in a similar role is essential.
The Position Description and Person Specifications (“PDPS”) is available via our website UCA SA - Current positions including an appendix which will provide more background information regarding the position and project.
Confidential enquires can be made to David Shepherd on Tel 0419600 or email *****@sa.uca.org.au
Applications are required to specifically address the selection criteria set out in the PDPS.
Please submit your application to Seek via the apply button before the close date of Wednesday, 14 October 2026 at 5:00pm.
