About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Data Engineer to design, build, and optimise data processing solutions across a variety of structured and unstructured data sources.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems outside of traditional warehouse environments, working directly with file-based datasets, JSON logs, parquet files, and large-scale data extracts.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and technical specialists to develop robust data pipelines and build unified datasets that support critical business and regulatory outcomes.

Key responsibilities include

- Developing and maintaining Python-based data engineering solutions
- Working extensively with Pandas, DuckDB, PyArrow/Parquet, YAML configurations, and CLI tools
- Designing and implementing scalable data processing frameworks
- Performing complex SQL analysis and transformations across disparate data sources
- Creating data models that bring together multiple datasets into cohesive business views
- Supporting KYC, customer management, and compliance-focused data initiatives
- Engaging with business stakeholders to understand requirements and facilitate workshops




- Contributing to reporting and visualisation outcomes where required

The Successful Candidate To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- 6+ years' experience in Data Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong Python development skills within data-focused environments
- Advanced experience with Pandas, DuckDB, PyArrow, Parquet, YAML, and command-line tooling
- Excellent SQL skills, including complex joins and data transformations
- Experience working with file-based data architectures rather than solely traditional databases
- Robust data modelling capabilities and the ability to visualise relationships across multiple datasets
- Experience working in KYC, AML, Customer Management, Financial Crime, Risk, or Compliance environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to gather requirements, facilitate workshops, and translate business needs into technical solutions

Desirable

- Experience with Power BI or other visualisation platforms
- Exposure to banking or financial services environments
- Experience working within enterprise-scale data transformation programs
