We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor (QS) who is al ready a Senior QS or is ready to become one.
Company Description Muller Partnership is a specialist Quantity Surveying firm with over 29 years of experience supporting a broad range of clients and project types. With offices in Newcastle, Sydney, and Melbourne, the company works on projects from approximately $500k to over $1bn in value. Clients include architectural, engineering and project management firms, all levels of government, financial institutions, property trusts, and private developers seeking independent and expert cost advice.
The firm is fully focused on Quantity Surveying, helping clients manage scarce funds effectively and achieve better financial outcomes on their projects. Team members benefit from exposure to diverse sectors, scales, and stakeholders across the built environment.
Role Description This is a full-time Quantity Surveyor role based in North Sydney, NSW, offered on a hybrid basis with a mix of office and work-from-home arrangements.
The Quantity
Surveyor will prepare cost plans and estimates across project stages, including measuring quantities, developing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and updating budgets in line with design changes. The role includes monitoring project costs, preparing cost reports, and advising on value engineering options to help clients achieve best value within their budget. Day-to-day responsibilities involve reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing tenders,
assessing progress claims and variations, and supporting contract administration.
The Quantity
Surveyor will also collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors, to provide clear, timely, and accurate cost advice.
Qualifications
- Cost planning and cost management skills, with experience preparing estimates and budgets across project life cycles.
- Proficiency in BOQ preparation and measurement, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documentation accurately.
- Demonstrated capability in cost control and cost reporting, including monitoring expenditure, forecasting final costs, and preparing clear client-facing reports.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management.
- Experience with CostX measurement and costing software, as well as solid skills in Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team and engage professionally with clients and project partners.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with a relevant skilled body (e.g., AIQS or equivalent) is highly regarded.
- Experience in Quantity Surveying within the Australian construction industry is essential.
