The Role
APS Recruitment is seeking adaptable and motivated individuals who are interested in developing their careers as recruitment professionals within Defence. This position plays an important role in supporting the delivery of effective, consistent and compliant recruitment services.
Responsibilities include
- Managing team workloads and resources, monitoring performance, and supporting the delivery of operational priorities and quality recruitment outcomes.
- Supporting team capability, providing guidance to colleagues, and assisting customers and stakeholders with complex or escalated recruitment matters.
- Contributing to projects and initiatives designed to improve recruitment practices and uplift capability across Defence, including governance, integrity and assurance activities, education and communication products, and business improvements.
- Providing specialist recruitment and attraction advice, while ensuring recruitment outcomes meet legislative, policy and business requirements.
- Working collaboratively across APS Recruitment, department and broader portfolio and to build productive stakeholder relationships, exercise sound judgement, promote high-quality customer service, and contribute to organisational priorities and continuous improvement.
APS Recruitment has hubs located in Melbourne, Canberra and Raymond Terrace. A merit pool will be established to fill future roles as they become available.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience supervising or supporting individuals and teams, including in geographically dispersed environments.
- Robust organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, respond to changing demands and deliver quality outcomes.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including adapting advice for different audiences.
- A practical, customer-focused approach, sound judgement and the ability to escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, procedures and other complex guidance.
- A willingness to learn, adapt and contribute to continuous improvement and change across APS Recruitment.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
