- Base salary range: $86,540 – $95,920 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
About the area The Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory, within the UWA Centre for Medical Research and UWA Medical School, is based at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Nedlands. The fully funded laboratory is developing novel therapeutic approaches for hard-to-treat cancers, with research spanning CRISPR-based manipulation of the cancer epigenome and the characterisation of an oncogene involved in cancer resistance to therapy.
You will join a collaborative research environment and work alongside a lead research associate and postdoctoral researchers to support these projects, with a particular focus on animal research.
About the prospect
- Undertake in vivo experimental procedures involving laboratory mice, including animal handling and monitoring, treatment administration, dissections, surgical procedures, tissue collection and sample processing.
- Support molecular biology and histology workflows, including RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, immunohistochemistry and preparation of biological samples for downstream analysis.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to cancer research projects, working collaboratively with postdoctoral researchers and research associates.
About you
- A Science degree; or a diploma with at least two years' relevant animal handling experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education,
training and experience.
- Strong practical experience in animal handling, sample processing and the use of laboratory equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute positively within a collaborative research team.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing activities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency using standard workplace technology, including word processing, spreadsheets and email.
