The Role
Reporting into the Risk and Compliance Lead, the purpose of this role is to execute a structured control testing program and independently assess design and effectiveness of risks and compliance controls supporting compliance with APRA Prudential Standards (in particular CPS234, CPS230 & CPS220). This role identifies control weaknesses, emerging risks and process improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, project teams, employees and Line 2 Risk and Compliance to strengthen overall control environment and risk maturity across MDA National.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of five years’ experience in audit, risk and compliance, assurance or control testing within financial services (preferably insurance).
- Demonstrated experience conducting control design and operating effectiveness testing, specifically cyber and IT controls.
- Experience using GRC platforms (preferably Protecht).
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory obligations, including CPS 220, CPS 230, and CPS 234 and Privacy obligations.
- Perform independent testing of key controls covering cyber security, information technology, operational risk,
regulatory compliance, third party risk management and business continuity.
- Effectively partner with stakeholders to develop a workplan and schedule for testing to be undertaken, including developing testing scope, sampling methodologies and test procedures aligned to internal standards as well as obtaining, reviewing and assessing evidence to support testing outcomes.
- Identify control gaps, process improvement, contribute to assurance reporting and raise findings in internal GRC tool. Prepare transparent, evidence-based observations and reporting.
- Provide practical recommendations to uplift control effectiveness, strengthen assurance outcomes and improve overall risk maturity across MDA National.
- Report on any identified gaps or process improvements in internal GRC tool for management oversight.
