Genus is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead safety, health, environment and quality working on a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Victoria.

This site-based role operates on a 2/1 roster and is open to candidates based in Australia, preference is Brisbane or Victoria residents.

Working closely with the project leadership and site teams, you will help deliver the project safely and in line with legislative, client and Genus requirements. You will oversee environmental controls and quality assurance while building a culture where people take ownership of safe, high-quality work.

The Role

You will lead the project’s SHEQ function throughout construction, commissioning and handover, providing practical advice, assurance and support to the teams delivering the work.

Responsibilities will include:

- Leading the implementation of project safety, health, environmental and quality plans and procedures.
- Supporting project and site teams to identify risks and put effective controls in place.
- Monitoring compliance with legislation, client requirements and Genus management systems.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and assurance activities, and following actions through to completion.
- Overseeing incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Supporting environmental management, including monitoring site controls and responding to issues.
- Overseeing quality assurance processes, records, inspections and non-conformance management.
- Working with subcontractors to ensure SHEQ requirements are understood and met.
- Providing SHEQ reporting and identifying opportunities to improve project practices.
- Promoting a positive culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

About You

- Experience in a SHEQ Manager or senior SHEQ role on construction, energy,



electrical infrastructure or industrial projects.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental obligations and quality management systems.
- Experience developing and implementing project SHEQ plans, audits and assurance processes.
- Confidence working with project leaders, site teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Sound investigation, risk management and problem-solving skills.
- A practical approach that helps teams apply requirements effectively on site.
- Current working rights in Australia.
- Ability to work a 2/1 roster.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- ICAM Lead Investigator certification.
