We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our team at Banjo's Bakery Cafe in Glenelg. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail setting within the food and beverage sector. As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service whilst supporting the smooth operation of our busy bakery cafe.
You will be the face of our business, engaging with customers daily and ensuring their experience is memorable and enjoyable.
What you'll be doing
- Providing exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and attending to their needs promptly and courteously
- Processing sales transactions accurately using the till system and handling cash, card and other payment methods securely
- Displaying and merchandising bakery and cafe products attractively to encourage sales
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and well-organised sales area in accordance with food safety standards
- Assisting with stock management, including receiving, checking and rotating inventory
- Handling customer enquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues when necessary
- Supporting promotional activities and special events as required
- Assisting with basic food preparation and service where applicable
- Following company policies and procedures at all times
What we're looking for
- Previous retail or customer service experience in a fast-paced workplace, ideally within food and beverage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for delivering customer service
- The ability to work efficiently in a team and independently, managing time effectively during busy periods
- A positive attitude, reliability and flexibility regarding hours,
including weekend and potential public holiday work
- Numeracy skills and accuracy in handling cash and operating till systems
- Food handling knowledge or willingness to undertake food safety training
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
