About The Role

We are looking for a motivated Scientist or Laboratory Technician to join our Biochemistry team at QML Pathology's Central Laboratory in Brisbane. You'll work within an enthusiastic, collaborative lab operating both LCMS and immunoassay (IA) platforms, with genuine opportunity to build specialist expertise in the challenging and rapidly evolving field of LCMS-based toxicology and clinical mass spectrometry assays.

You will be responsible for:

- Process and validate patient samples and quality control data accurately and efficiently, in line with laboratory policies and Westgard Rules
- Maintain, troubleshoot and operate analytical instrumentation, including LCMS and IA systems
- Refer critical or atypical results to Chemical Pathologists as required
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs (including RCPA QAP)
- Respond to phone queries and support day-to-day lab operations
- Maintain current scientific knowledge through continuing education and journal review

About You To be considered for this position,



you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage and thrive in a busy environment
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
