The Opportunity The King's College is seeking a qualified, engaging and enthusiastic Secondary Physical Education and Health Teacher to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract for a period of one year.
This role is ideally suited to an educator with a passion for Outdoor Education, who is committed to inspiring students through active learning, personal development and meaningful outdoor experiences.
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Physical Education and Health curriculum while also contributing to the development and delivery of the College's Outdoor Education program. Through a combination of classroom teaching, practical activities and outdoor experiences, you will foster students' physical wellbeing, resilience, teamwork, leadership and character development.
You will bring a genuine enthusiasm for the outdoors and an ability to create engaging learning opportunities that challenge students to step beyond their comfort zones, develop confidence, and build lifelong skills. Experience in planning and leading outdoor pursuits, camps, expeditions and adventure-based learning programs will be highly regarded.
Outdoor Education experience is preferred; however, all suitably qualified Physical Education and Health teachers are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education and Health programs aligned with the curriculum that inspire student participation, achievement and wellbeing.
- Teach a variety of sports, games, fitness activities and movement skills, catering to the diverse needs of secondary students.
- Contribute to Outdoor Education programs, including camps, excursions, and extracurricular PE activities.
- Promote positive health, fitness, resilience and personal development through active and engaging learning experiences.
- Support co-curricular sport, carnivals and College events, contributing to the broader life of the College.
- Maintain safe and inclusive learning environments, ensuring effective risk management and the appropriate use of sporting equipment and facilities.
- Build positive, respectful and professional relationships with students, fostering engagement, wellbeing and a culture of high expectations.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues to support student learning and development.
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure a high-quality program.
- Uphold child safeguarding requirements, mandatory reporting obligations and all relevant College policies and procedures.
About You You are a committed Christian who actively supports the College's vision, mission and values through both your professional practice and personal conduct. As a passionate and engaging educator, you inspire students to develop a love of physical activity, health, wellbeing and outdoor learning while encouraging them to achieve their personal best.
You possess strong communication, organisational and classroom management skills and can build positive, respectful relationships with students, parents and colleagues. You are a proactive and collaborative professional who demonstrates initiative, sound judgement and strong time-management skills.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the College through sport, camps, Outdoor Education programs and other co-curricular activities, while supporting the holistic growth and wellbeing of students.
With knowledge of contemporary co-curricular practices, the Physical Education teacher will inspire a safe, engaging and challenging atmosphere, whilst promoting the College's vision, policies and procedures.
Qualifications and experience include:
- Current Teacher Registration in Western Australia.
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Physical Education and Health in a secondary school setting.
- Strong ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and promoting student wellbeing and engagement.
- Excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to responsibilities.
- Commitment to child safety, inclusive education and supporting students to achieve their potential.
- Experience or an interest in Outdoor Education, including camps,
excursions and experiential learning programs, will be highly regarded.
- Experience in Christian education will be highly regarded.
