As part of a strategic digital initiative, you'll contribute to the development of intelligent planning and decision-support capabilities designed to improve mine development performance.

Working within a small, highly collaborative product team, you'll help connect planning, scheduling and execution workflows through data, optimisation and AI, enabling operational teams to make faster, smarter and more informed decisions.

Your recent role

As a Senior Applied AI Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in designing and delivering production-grade AI and optimisation capabilities that solve complex operational challenges.

Working closely with Data Engineers, a Technical Lead, Product, Platform, Architecture and operational specialists, you will:

- Design and implement data models, pipelines and services supporting AI and optimisation use cases.
- Build Generative AI solutions using AWS Bedrock and AgentCore, including AI agents, orchestration workflows, tool integrations and natural language interfaces.
- Develop and operationalise optimisation and decision-support capabilities.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into practical, intuitive user experiences.
- Build reliable, explainable and scalable AI capabilities for operational environments.
- Implement automated testing, observability, CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.
- Contribute across application, data and cloud engineering disciplines in a fast-moving product environment.

What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- 5+ years' experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.




- Strong Python development and software engineering capability.
- Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade applications and AI solutions.
- Hands-on experience developing Generative AI solutions within enterprise environments.
- Practical experience with AWS Bedrock and AgentCore.
- Experience building and deploying AI agents, agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks and tool integrations.
- Experience working with data-intensive applications and analytical workflows.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and modern engineering practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work across multiple technical disciplines and operate effectively within ambiguous, discovery-led environments.

Experience with mathematical optimisation, planning, scheduling or decision-support systems will be highly regarded, as will exposure to C#/.NET, AWS cloud-native services, containers, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.

Previous experience within mining, resources, industrial operations or similarly data-intensive operational environments would also be advantageous.
