What we do

Technology and Digital Programs Group (TDP) delivers and supports the digital services, applications, platforms and technology infrastructure that enable Australians to access essential government services. Our work supports programs including Centrelink, Medicare, Child Support and Aged Care, helping millions of Australians access payments, healthcare, aged care and other government services when they need them most.

The Enterprise Architecture and Cloud Engineering Branch guides the agency by defining enterprise technology direction, recommending technology investment, and supporting the delivery of secure, scalable and sustainable digital services.

We align business needs and ICT capabilities with Services Australia priorities and Whole of Government direction. Working in partnership with business areas, delivery teams and external partners, we help ensure technology decisions are well governed, fit for purpose and support long term capability outcomes for the agency.

About the role

As a Senior Technology Architect Manager, you will lead teams to provide strategic leadership and technical direction across complex ICT environments,



ensuring technology solutions align with organisational objectives, enterprise architecture principles and governance requirements. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead technology strategies, standards and architecture designs, drive innovation and continuous improvement, and provide expert advice on complex technical matters.

You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, influence enterprise technology decisions, and support the adoption of secure, scalable and sustainable digital services. You will develop capability, and contribute to the agency's strategic direction through governance, change leadership and stakeholder engagement.

The Technology Architect stream provides enterprise leadership across technology strategy, architecture governance, cloud, infrastructure, security and digital service delivery. The stream guides technology investment decisions, develops architecture roadmaps and standards, and provides assurance across major ICT initiatives.

- Lead and support high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, workforce planning and capability development.
- Manage team priorities, resources, budgets, contracts, procurement activities and performance outcomes.
- Lead complex architecture initiatives that influence technology direction and support strategic agency outcomes.
- Provide trusted advice and practical recommendations to executives, governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Build strong partnerships across business areas, delivery teams,



government partners and industry stakeholders.
- Use sound judgement to manage risk, competing priorities and enterprise-level decision-making.
- Guide technology, information and data strategies, standards, policies and change initiatives that support agency priorities.
- Review solution architectures, cost estimates and technical documentation to support quality, assurance and compliance.

Essential Requirements:

Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).

In accordance with section 22(6) of the Public Service Act 1999, Services Australia requires applicants to be Australian citizens to be eligible for employment with Services Australia.

An applicant’s suitability for employment with the agency will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes but is not limited to a national police history check, referee checks, code of conduct check and an employment history integrity check.

Some positions within Services Australia may be required to work in settings where mandatory vaccinations are required. Staff in such positions will need to demonstrate that they meet the vaccination requirements or have a relevant exemption.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Information Management, Data Management, Enterprise Architecture or a related discipline.
- Industry certifications or demonstrated experience relevant to architecture, cloud, information management or data governance.

Services Australia’s workforce operates using an agile approach, and all staff should be prepared to redeploy to critical frontline functions as required.
