About the role

Reporting to the CFO, you will take ownership of financial accounting and compliance while leading a small team.

The position combines preparing more complex accounting work with reviewing the team’s output. You will strengthen financial controls, improve the quality and timeliness of reporting, and help develop junior staff.

Key responsibilities include

- Managing month-end and year-end accounting, ensuring accurate results and timely reporting.

- Reviewing journals and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by junior team members.

- Overseeing Accounts Payable, approving payment runs and resolving supplier reconciliation issues.

- Managing BAS, FBT and statutory reporting,



while supporting income tax and payroll tax compliance.

- Owning fixed asset registers, depreciation, and capital expenditure accounting.

- Supporting lease accounting, including IFRS 16, store fit-outs and refurbishments

- Coordinating audit requirements and strengthening financial controls.

- Supporting the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial commentary.

- Leading and developing the Assistant Accountant and Accounts Payable team member.

- Improving finance processes and supporting systems upgrades and automation.

About you

You are a CA or CPA qualified accountant with experience in fashion, retail, or another product-based business. You may be a Financial Accountant ready to step up or an existing Senior Accountant looking for broader ownership and development.

You will bring

- Strong experience across month-end, financial controls and Australian compliance

- Confidence preparing accounting work and reviewing others’ output.

- Experience supervising or supporting junior team members.

- An interest in process improvement and working through change.

- A positive, hands-on approach and willingness to contribute across the team.

Experience within a growing business where processes and systems are still evolving would be particularly relevant.
