MineSet Recruitment Pty Ltd is a specialist recruitment and labour hire business supporting mining operations across Australia.

On behalf of our valued client, we are seeking an experienced Senior Geologist – Open Pit to join an established mining operation and play a key role within the site-based geology team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable geologist with proven leadership experience to contribute to mine planning, production and geological performance, while providing guidance and support to a team of geology professionals.

Reporting to the Geology Manager and working closely with the broader Mining and Technical Services teams, you will provide senior geological expertise across the operation.

The role offers a balance of technical geology, leadership and operational support, with involvement across grade control, geological interpretation, modelling, reconciliation and production planning. You will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of geological systems, processes and practices across the site.

Relocation is a requirement of this position, with no FIFO or DIDO arrangement available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead, mentor and provide technical direction to the site geology team
- Deliver high-quality geological information to support mine planning and operational requirements
- Manage grade control programs, geological interpretation and reconciliation activities
- Review and update geological models to ensure they effectively support mining and planning requirements
- Provide geological advice and input into mine design, sequencing, drill and blast and production planning
- Plan and coordinate diamond drilling programs, including scheduling and contractor management




- Oversee geological sampling, logging, data collection and quality assurance processes
- Maintain the integrity, accuracy and reliability of geological databases and associated records
- Coordinate geological reporting and provide regular updates on production and geological performance
- Work collaboratively with Mining and Technical Services teams to identify and address geological challenges
- Provide geological input into Life of Mine planning, budgeting and forecasting activities
- Coordinate external geological contractors and service providers as required
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve geological systems, processes and operational efficiency
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all geological activities comply with site procedures and legislative requirements

ABOUT YOU:

- Tertiary qualification in Geology
- Minimum 7 years' experience in mining geology
- Demonstrated open pit mining experience
- Previous experience in a senior geological or team leadership role
- Robust technical capability across grade control, geological modelling, reconciliation and mine geology
- Proficiency with Vulcan, Leapfrog or similar geological modelling software
- Experience planning and coordinating drilling programs and managing drilling contractors




- Sound understanding of open pit mining operations and the integration of geology with mine production
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret geological data and identify practical solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with Geology, Mining and Technical Services teams
- Well organised, proactive and solutions-focused approach

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

- Current National Police Clearance issued within the past 6 months
- Successful completion of a comprehensive pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening and functional assessment
- Australian Permanent Residency
- Current and unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
