Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…

- Lead the development, coordination and delivery of major strategic planning and projects
- Prepare and manage statutory planning instruments, including LEPs, DCPs and Contribution plans
- Liaise and negotiate with government agencies, public authorities, industry representatives, community organisations and key stakeholders
- Prepare high-quality reports, submissions, strategic planning documents and policy papers.
- Provide leadership within multidisciplinary teams and deliver professional, strategic and technical planning advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and support staff, fostering collaboration, professional development and high-quality planning outcomes.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative Senior Planner to join our City Planning team on a permanent full-time basis (35 hours per week).





City Planning delivers a diverse and strategic work program, including reviews of the Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan, planning policy development and responses to planning reform. This work plays a key role in shaping Penrith’s future by balancing growth, resilience and liveability.

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential

- Tertiary qualification in urban/town planning or related discipline and/or extensive jobrelated experience
- Demonstrated experience in the formulation and implementation of land-use planning policy.
- Proven ability to establish, coordinate and/or operate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder and community engagement
- Strong analytical, project management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve targets
- Current Class C driver licence

Desirable
- Experience working in a local government environment
- Experience in rapid growth area planning/management
- Demonstrated experience in projects requiring a high level of urban design outcomes

Summary The successful applicant will maintain and implement Council’s statutory planning framework, applying extensive planning knowledge, experience and attention to detail to deliver high-quality planning outcomes.
