The Water for the Environment Branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer for an exciting temporary opportunity within the Strategy and Reform Team. Water for the Environment supports the health of rivers, wetlands, and floodplains across NSW, enabling native species, ecosystems, and communities to thrive. The Water for the Environment branch delivers complex, high‑profile programs that balance environmental outcomes, operational demands, and stakeholder expectations within a dynamic policy and regulatory context.

About You The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience working on environmental or resource management issues, with highly developed skills in policy analysis and development, project management. The successful applicant will exhibit strong communication and engagement capabilities, while being committed to delivering high-quality and timely results, ensuring a collaborative approach to planning and delivering key projects. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage multiple competing priorities is essential.

Key knowledge and experience

Policy Development – Essential

Project Management Fundamentals – Highly Desirable

Knowledge of Water for the Setting Program – Highly Desirable
