About the Division
Assessment Division is responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery, and reporting of F-10, VCE examinations, GAT and NAPLAN tests. This includes the full assessment lifecycle: development of frameworks and blueprints, panel appointments, content development, editorial and design services, logistics, administration, marking, data processing, and reporting of outcomes.
The division also manages
- VCE and VPC student records and enrolment data
- issuing of VCE and VPC certificates
- digital assessment platforms, including the Insight platform and Digital Assessment Library.
The Operations branch is part of the VCAA's Assessment Division and supports the delivery of VCE and NAPLAN assessment programs and services across Victoria. Its work includes assessment logistics, marking coordination, results calculation, helpdesk administration, certification services, special provision processes, assessment data operations, and support for digital platforms including Insight.
Role Purpose The Senior Project Officer is responsible for managing and supporting the ongoing provision of content (e.g. items (questions) and assessments) for online assessment, marking and reporting systems, including the Insight Assessment Platform.
This role is responsible for ensuring that online assessment content is technically of the highest quality, error free and functions appropriately on the VCAA's online platforms.
Specifically, responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the design, development, deployment and maintenance of assessment content.
- Undertaking review of assessment content and implementing appropriate quality assurance processes to ensure content meets specifications.
- Undertaking administrative functions to maintain assessment instruments (i.e. item and test banks) and associated processes including entering, assembly, reviewing, configuration and marking/scoring as required.
- Identifying and supporting the development of relevant system and process improvements.
- Undertaking quality assurance of system changes as they relate to the provision of assessment content (including reporting).
- Developing and maintaining technical standards for digital assessment content development (e.g. style guides, user manuals, metadata).
- Providing expert technical advice in the use of the online assessment systems, including associated training of stakeholders.
This role may require work outside standard business hours during peak operational periods to meet business requirements.
Attributes To be successful in this role an attention to detail, an ability to develop and manage processes and work collaboratively is essential. This role is a crucial interface between content expertise, technical operational teams, contractors/resources and other key stakeholders to support the development, deployment,
effective operation and maintenance of assessment content.
Qualifications and Experience
Desirable: Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with expertise in large scale content management
