About The Role

At CCQ, we conduct a team-oriented program of research in cancer control. It is focused on understanding cancer risk, ensuring early detection of cancer, improving cancer survivorship, and reducing inequities in cancer outcomes.

As Senior Research Officer, Contracts and Governance, you will play a key role in negotiating and managing contracts related to those projects.

Your responsibilities will include handling contract preparation, managing legal review of contracts, negotiation with external partners, ensuring compliance with contract terms, and providing ongoing support throughout the contract lifecycle. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including the legal team and relevant research staff, to facilitate smooth contract management and ensure project milestones are met efficiently.

You will also assist the Senior Manager, Cancer Research Centre, in establishing and maintaining appropriate governance processes for the Viertel Cancer Research Centre including appropriate organisational policies and training in accordance with national guidelines.



These include the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018) and National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2023).

About You To be successful in this role you will bring:

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent or considerable equivalent experience in a relevant field. Tertiary qualifications in law will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated understanding of the research funding landscape.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex research-related contracts.
- Demonstrated experience working in research governance and familiarity with relevant state and Commonwealth research ethics and governance requirements.
- Ability to review and interpret key considerations and relevant risks associated with research contracts, including Intellectual Property.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant research policies and procedures in a complex environment, and provide advice, prepare correspondence and make recommendations to Senior Management on a range of issues impacting upon the governance of the Viertel Cancer Research Centre.
- Ability to draft a range of documents, including contracts and agreements, policies and procedures, and training materials
- High level organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to maintain systems to support planning and decision making.
