Senior Systems Engineer / MSP Technical Lead

V4 IT Services, a leading IT Support company serving Home customer, is now expanding into the Managed IT Services / MSP market and we are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer / MSP Technical Lead to help build and lead the technical side of this new division.

This is not a standard internal IT Manager role.

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in a Managed Service Provider environment who understands what it takes to support multiple business clients, standardise technology stacks, manage complex escalations and build scalable service delivery processes.

You will work closely with the business owner and have significant input into how our Managed IT division is built from the ground up.

Key responsibilities include:

- Design and implement our MSP technical stack and service standards
- Lead complex L2/L3 escalations
- Help select and manage RMM, PSA, documentation, backup and cybersecurity platforms
- Build client onboarding and offboarding processes
- Standardise Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and endpoint environments
- Manage and improve security, backup and disaster recovery standards
- Design network, firewall and infrastructure solutions
- Support Microsoft 365 and cloud migrations
- Develop technical documentation, SOPs and escalation processes
- Train and mentor our existing L1/L2 support team
- Assist with technical discovery meetings and solution design for new business clients
- Work with management to build scalable and commercially viable MSP service packages.

Experience we are looking for:

- Ideally 8–12+ years of total IT experience, preferably in Australia.
- At least 5 years of experience working within a Managed Service Provider environment
- At least 3 years working at Senior Systems Engineer / L3 Engineer level
- Previous experience mentoring, supervising or technically leading other engineers is highly regarded




- Proven experience supporting multiple SMB clients simultaneously rather than working within only one internal corporate IT environment
- Strong experience handling complex escalations, outages, infrastructure issues and client migrations
- Experience in technical discovery, solution design and client onboarding
- Experience helping define technical standards, processes and documentation within an MSP environment
- Candidates currently working as a strong Senior Systems Engineer / L3 Engineer and looking to step into a Technical Lead role are encouraged to apply

Essential requirement:

Substantial hands-on experience working within an MSP environment is essential.

This role will not suit someone whose background has primarily been internal corporate IT or desktop support.

We need someone who is still technically strong and comfortable personally taking ownership of difficult L3 issues when required.
