SHEQ Advisor / Work, Health and Safety

Permanent Full-Time | Monday to Friday

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced HSEQ/WHS professional to support the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems across the business. This is a national role with responsibility across our Australian operations.

This is a hands-on role that combines HSEQ advice, operational support, regulatory compliance, auditing, reporting and management systems oversight. You’ll work closely with project managers, operational teams and field staff to help identify and manage risks, support safe project delivery, investigate incidents and embed lessons learned.

A key part of the role will be building HSEQ capability across the business. The HSEQ Advisor will provide the knowledge, guidance and support our people need to confidently manage HSEQ matters in their own roles, while ensuring that responsibility for safe work practices remains with everyone across the organisation.

The role is supported by experienced HSEQ specialists within our parent company, providing access to high-level technical guidance, specialist expertise and broader organisational resources. This will provides a robust support network and facilitate the individual’s professional growth while allowing the HSEQ Advisor to drive day-to-day HSEQ outcomes within the business.

Key Responsibilities

HSEQ advice and operational support

- Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to project managers, operational teams and field staff.
- Help teams identify, assess and manage risks across office, project and archaeological fieldwork environments.
- Support staff to understand and confidently meet their own HSEQ responsibilities.
- Provide HSEQ input into tenders, client questionnaires, prequalification requirements, project mobilisation and other client or commercial requests.




- Work closely with project teams, People & Culture, operational leaders and divisional HSEQ specialists within our parent company to share knowledge, access technical expertise and maintain consistent standards.

Systems, compliance and improvement

- Manage and continually improve our Integrated Management System, maintaining alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Keep HSEQ policies, procedures, registers and risk documentation current, practical and fit for purpose.
- Monitor relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and help translate these into practical actions.

Auditing, incidents and risk / Work, Health and Safety

- Conduct workplace inspections, field audits and compliance reviews, working with teams and management to identify improvements and follow through on corrective actions.
- Lead or support incident investigations, hazard and near-miss reporting and the sharing of lessons learned.

Training and engagement

- Deliver HSEQ inductions, training, toolbox talks and awareness activities that build practical capability across the business.
- Coordinate and support the WHS Committee and broader staff consultation.
- Encourage a culture where people are comfortable raising concerns, asking questions and taking ownership of HSEQ in their work.

Reporting and governance

- Maintain accurate HSEQ records, registers and performance data and prepare reporting for leadership and governance requirements.




- Keep the company leadership informed and involved in relation to issues and necessary directions.
- Coordinate and support internal and external ISO audits and accreditation activities.

About You

You are a practical and approachable safety and quality professional who enjoys working alongside operational teams to achieve positive safety outcomes.

You understand how to balance compliance requirements with real-world project delivery and are comfortable influencing people at all levels of an organisation.

You will bring

5 years' experience in a SHEQ, HSEQ or WHS Advisory role. Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and risk management principles. Ability to interpret and communicate relevant HSE legislation Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, environmental consulting, engineering or similar project-based industries.

Experience conducting investigations, workplace inspections and audits. Strong reporting, analytical and documentation skills.

Experience supporting or maintaining ISO-certified management systems.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification. Experience managing Principal Contractor functions and responsibilities would be desirable.
