Specialised Nutrition & Café Team Member
WE'RE HIRING – PART-TIME POSITION
Herne Hill, Geelong
We are looking for a committed, reliable and meticulous team member to join our not-for-profit organisation supporting people living with rare genetic disorders, disability and complex support needs.
This role combines specialised food preparation, commercial kitchen duties, café operations, customer service and quality and compliance responsibilities.
SPECIALISED NUTRITION PREPARATION
Full workplace training will be provided in our procedures for preparing nutrition for people who receive some or all of their nutrition via a feeding tube.
Duties will include
- Preparing, cooking, blending and portioning puréed meals for enteral/tube-feeding purposes
- Following recipes, preparation instructions and portion requirements accurately
- Measuring and mixing powdered nutritional supplements
- Encapsulation and vacuum sealing
- Accurate weighing and measuring
- Batch preparation, tracing and tracking
- Product labelling and record keeping
- Correct storage and management of frozen, thawed, refrigerated, fresh and dried foods
- Stock rotation, inventory management and ordering
- Allergy and food-intolerance awareness
- Maintaining excellent food safety and infection-prevention standards
- Cleaning, sanitation and waste-management procedures
Attention to detail is essential. Our products are supplied to people with disability and complex nutritional requirements, so accuracy, hygiene, traceability and consistent adherence to procedures are extremely important.
CAFÉ & CUSTOMER SERVICE The position also involves working within our commercial kitchen and inclusive café in Herne Hill. Our aim is to create a welcoming café environment for everyone, including people who receive their nutrition via feeding tubes and their families, carers and support workers.
Café responsibilities may include
- Customer service
- Coffee and other beverage preparation
- Day-to-day café operations
- Cash handling and point-of-sale procedures
- Opening and closing procedures
- Food preparation and service
- Stock control and ordering
- Maintaining clean and organised food-service areas
- Building relationships with customers and our local community
WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS:
- Excellent food-handling and hygiene practices
- Café, hospitality, commercial kitchen or food-service experience
- Coffee and beverage preparation experience
- Strong infection-prevention practices
- Excellent attention to detail and meticulous work standards
- Good computer skills
- Accurate documentation and reporting skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Allergy and food-intolerance awareness
- An understanding of privacy and confidentiality
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- A willingness to follow detailed policies, procedures and work instructions
- A genuine commitment to working safely and responsibly with products intended for people with disability and complex needs The successful applicant will be expected to work in accordance with applicable food-safety and health requirements, workplace health and safety requirements, NDIS-related organisational requirements, privacy and confidentiality obligations, and company policies and procedures.

Salary packaging is available, and all applicable employment entitlements and obligations will be provided.
