Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships, in partnership with Tronox, is offering an exciting opportunity to join the team at Tronox's Cooljarloo Mine as a Surface Extraction Trainee.

Over 24 months, you'll work towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Surface Extraction while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a dredging technique.

As a Surface Extraction Trainee, you'll learn the practical skills and knowledge required to work safely and effectively within a mining environment. Working alongside experienced operators, you'll receive structured on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring while developing an understanding of mining operations, equipment, processes and safety standards.

During your traineeship, you'll have the opportunity to:

- Complete a Certificate III in Surface Extraction
- Gain practical, hands-on experience in a large-scale mining environment
- Learn from experienced operators and industry professionals
- Receive ongoing training, coaching and mentoring
- Develop valuable technical and operational skills
- Experience an even time roster
- Build the foundations for a rewarding career in the mining industry

What you'll bring

To be considered, you will need:

- Completion of secondary schooling
- The ability and willingness to work a rotating shift roster (incl both days and nights)




- A current WA driver's licence and reliable transport
- A solid work ethic and commitment to protected work practices
- The physical fitness required to work in a physically demanding operational environment
- The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and ongoing drug and alcohol screening

Your workplace - Tronox Cooljarloo

Located just north of Cataby on Brand Highway (190km north of Perth CBD), Tronox's Cooljarloo site mines heavy mineral concentrate using dredging techniques.

The site forms an important part of Tronox's Western Australian operations, processing mineral sands into valuable products supplied to international markets.

Please note: this position is residential/local so you can stay on country, however employees can also stay at the mine's camp (referred to as the Village) which is located approximately 10kms south of the mine, not far from inland Dandaragan. The Village includes a communal dining hall for all meals, individual rooms with your own bathroom, gym, and lots of outdoor space.
