About the Opportunity
This position will assist Mine Surveyors with providing survey requirements for the underground mine operations, surface infrastructure and exploration, working to safety, health and social responsibility standards and procedures.
Key accountabilities include:
- Designing and compiling underground mine survey plans and map manuscripts using digital and graphical source material, including underground survey data, mine plans, geological information, development designs, aerial and satellite imagery, survey records and other relevant technical information.
- Advising underground Surveyors, Mining Engineers, Geologists and other technical professionals on data requirements for survey plans and mapping, including appropriate scales, levels of detail, coordinate systems, mine nomenclature and presentation requirements.
- Determining and establishing the position of underground mine workings, infrastructure, development headings, stopes, drill drives, services,
ore bodies and other points of interest, and preparing accurate survey data in digital form.
- Undertaking research, development and implementation of surveying, measurement and spatial information systems and technologies relevant to underground mining operations.
- Planning and designing underground mine survey programs and coordinating survey requirements associated with mine development, production, infrastructure, stoping and other underground mining activities.
- Advising Mining Engineers, Geologists, Mine Managers and other technical professionals on the technical requirements, limitations and application of surveying, mapping and spatial information systems in underground mining environments.
- Compiling, analysing and evaluating underground survey data, interpreting relevant standards, legislation and codes of practice, and preparing technical reports concerning survey measurements, mine development, mining operations and spatial information.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate underground mine plans, survey reports and digital records required for mine planning, development, production, reconciliation, compliance and other operational requirements.
- Monitoring and verifying the accuracy of underground mine development and production against approved mine designs, plans and survey control.
- Providing survey information and technical advice to support underground development, production, ground control, ventilation, infrastructure installation and other mining activities.
Location and Roster
- FIFO from Perth, Darwin, or Broome; or DIDO from Onslow, Exmouth, Karratha, or Dampier.
- Paulsens is located in the Ashburton Basin, Eastern Pilbara — 211 km inland from Onslow and 180 km west of Paraburdoo.
- Flights are to Onslow or Paraburdoo, followed by a two-hour bus to site.
- Roster: 15/13, day shift only.
About You
- Diploma in Mine Surveying (minimum).
- Experience as a Surveyor, with underground exposure.
- Working knowledge in mine surveying software with exposure to or experience using Deswik (or ability to learn quickly and efficiently) is desirable.
