Glenorchy City Council is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Tollbooth Officer to join our Waste Services team at the Jackson Street Waste Management Centre.
As the first point of contact for customers using the facility, you will provide advice on waste disposal, operate the weighbridge and associated systems, process payments, assist customers with enquiries, and help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming site environment.
About The Role - This Role Is Responsible For
- Operating the weighbridge and associated computer systems.
- Providing high-quality customer service and waste disposal advice.
- Inspecting and categorising waste to ensure compliance with site requirements.
- Processing payments, balancing cash and maintaining accurate records.
- Supporting safe and efficient site operations.
- Maintaining the tollbooth area, including routine litter collection and reporting issues.
- Working collaboratively with customers, contractors and team members.
What you'll bring - we are looking for someone who has:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience handling cash, receipting and balancing transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures.
- The ability to build effective relationships with customers and colleagues.
Position details
- Part time role.
- Monday to Thursday every second week, 7.15am to 4.25pm.
