About the role

We're looking for a Town Planner to join our approvals team, supporting planning assessments, approval pathways, and compliance across a diverse portfolio of residential projects, including current builds, renovations, developments, subdivisions, land matters, and change of use applications.

This is a private sector role within a leading residential builder, a great alternative to local or state government planning, offering faster-paced project work and the chance to see outcomes from design through to construction. You'll work alongside experienced planners and our wider approvals team, with plenty of support to build your knowledge and grow your career in residential planning.

This is a great opportunity for a planner who enjoys problem-solving, variety in their day-to-day work, and being part of a collaborative team environment.

Key focus areas include:

- Conducting planning and compliance assessments across new builds, renovations, subdivisions, and change of use projects
- Reviewing designs against R-Codes and local planning controls
- Preparing clear, well-reasoned planning justifications
- Liaising with local governments, certifiers, and developers
- Supporting sales, drafting, and design teams with compliance advice
- Working closely with other planners and the approvals team to keep projects moving
- Contributing ideas for process improvements

About You You're a qualified Town Planner, or a recent graduate building your experience, with a working knowledge of WA planning frameworks. You might come from a local government, consultancy, or private sector background,

and you're keen to develop your technical skills across a broad range of residential planning work.

You're organised, responsive, and solutions-focused — a team player who's eager to learn, builds strong working relationships, and enjoys helping teams navigate approvals together.

- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning
- 1–3 years' relevant planning experience (graduates considered; WA experience preferred)
- An understanding of local planning policies and approval pathways
- Exposure to preparing planning reports or justification letters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail and time management
- A collaborative, proactive, can-do approach
