Focus: Veterinary Receptionist

We’re looking for a friendly and professional Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. If you love working with people, enjoy being part of a busy team and have a genuine love of animals, we’d love to hear from you.

Veterinary reception experience would be highly valued, however, applicants with strong customer service, administration or general reception experience who are looking to bring their skills into the veterinary industry are welcome to apply.

What you can expect

- Supportive, family-style team culture across 3 well-established clinics

- Permanent part-time hours: 4 day working week, shifts vary (8am-6pm, 7.30am – 4pm, 8.30am – 4pm)

- Long term working between 2 surgeries Marian and Walkerston, initial training may fall across all 3 surgeries

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is confident, friendly and genuinely enjoys helping people.

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous reception, administration or customer service experience

- Veterinary reception experience would be highly valued

- Excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone
- A warm, professional and empathetic approach when dealing with clients

- Confidence handling a wide range of customer enquiries and situations





- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy setting

- Confidence working as part of a team and communicating effectively with our vets, nurses and other staff
- A genuine love of animals and confidence handling them safely when required, including assisting clients with getting their pets on and off scales

- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new practice management software
- A Certificate in Business, Administration, Customer Service or a related field would be advantageous, but is not essential

What the role involves

Our receptionists are an important part of the client experience at Valley Veterinary Surgery. The role includes:

- Welcoming clients and their pets to the clinic

- Answering and managing a busy telephone system

- Booking appointments and managing client enquiries

- Processing payments and handling general administrative tasks

- End of Day till procedure

- Communicating with clients about their pets visits and ongoing care

- Liaising closely with vets, nurses and other team members

- Assisting with patient flow throughout the clinic





- Handling and weighing animals when required

- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception area

- Providing exceptional customer service throughout every stage of the client’s visit

- Respecting and following clinical policies and procedures

Our Facilities & Services

Valley Veterinary Surgery is a busy, modern veterinary practice with three locations and a wide range of services. Our clinics offer advanced equipment including CT scanner at Marian, digital X-ray, ultrasound and in-house pathology, as well as a variety of surgical and medical services.

Our reception team plays an important role in keeping everything running smoothly. You’ll communicate with clients, vets and nurses throughout the day, as well as liaise with referring veterinary clinics when coordinating CT scans and other referral-related cases.

Though highly valued, you don’t need to have a clinical background we’ll provide training for the veterinary side of the role. What’s important is that you’re organised, confident communicating with people and comfortable working in a busy environment where every day can be different.
