About the Role
The Team Leader – Mobile Dignity Services is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of Yilli Rreung Housing Aboriginal Corporation’s Mobile Dignity Services across the Greater Darwin region.
The service provides practical, culturally safe and respectful support to people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough, including access to hot meals, mobile showers, laundry facilities and essential hygiene supports.
The Team Leader will lead a small frontline team delivering services across a range of outreach locations, ensuring services are safe, reliable, responsive and delivered in a way that promotes dignity, choice and respect.
This is a hands-on leadership position. The Team Leader will work alongside staff in the field while also coordinating daily operations, staff deployment, vehicles and equipment, service schedules, partnerships, reporting and workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
·Provide day-to-day leadership, direction and support to the Mobile Dignity Services team.
- Coordinate staff rosters, daily duties, outreach locations and service schedules.
- Ensure consistent provision of:
- hot meals;
- mobile shower facilities;
- mobile laundry services;
- hygiene products and other essential items; and
- practical support and referral pathways for people experiencing homelessness.
Work directly alongside the team in delivering services when required. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with homelessness services, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, NT Government agencies, councils, health providers, Police and other community partners. Participate in relevant service coordination meetings and case discussions where appropriate. Coordinate the protected operation of Mobile Dignity Services vehicles, shower and laundry facilities and associated equipment. Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained, cleaned, stocked and ready for service delivery. Maintain a strong focus on the safety of staff, clients and community members during mobile service delivery.
·Ensure accurate and timely collection of service delivery data.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience working in homelessness, outreach, community services, housing or a related human services environment.
2. Demonstrated experience leading, supervising or coordinating a small frontline team.
3. Strong understanding of the needs and challenges experienced by people who are homeless, sleeping rough or experiencing housing instability.
4. Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
5.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage respectfully with people experiencing complex needs, trauma, intoxication or challenging circumstances.
6. Demonstrated ability to coordinate day-to-day service delivery, staff, vehicles, equipment and operational priorities.
7. Sound understanding of workplace health and safety, risk management and safe outreach practices.
8. Ability to build effective working relationships with government agencies, community organisations and other service providers.
9. Good written communication, record keeping and reporting skills.
10. Ability to work independently, make sound operational decisions and appropriately escalate significant risks or concerns.
11. Current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.
12. Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Clearance and Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
