Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to find safety, stability and hope?

Anglicare Tasmania is seeking casual and permanent part-time Youth Practitioners (up to 30 hours per week for part-time positions) to join our Curr Street Youth Hub Program based in Devonport.

About the Role The Curr Street Youth Hub provides temporary accommodation and practical support for young people experiencing homelessness, including young people who may be subject to Child Safety Orders or known to Youth Justice.

The Hub operates as a voluntary service, giving young people choice in accessing overnight accommodation, meals, support and other resources based on their individual needs.

Youth Practitioners work across a rotating roster incorporating Active Overnight and Sleepover shifts. The roster provides access to applicable shift and weekend penalty rates, together with sleepover allowances under the Anglicare Tasmania Inc. Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2025.

Youth Practitioners work across a rotating roster, including a combination of Active Overnight and Sleepover shifts, with both shift types shared across the roster.

To be successful you will have:

- Through case management provide support to people accessing Anglicare's Community Services within the Anglicare practice framework and other standards related to the Community Services sector.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people by using effective communication, active listening, empathy, and a non-judgemental approach to encourage engagement and ongoing support.
- Provide overnight supervision and support to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of young people staying at the facility.
- Conduct intake and exit processes, including gathering relevant information, explaining house expectations, and ensuring young people understand available supports and services.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations, including behavioural incidents, emotional distress, mental health concerns, self-harm risks, or emergency situations, using de-escalation techniques and appropriate support pathways.




- Assist and encourage participation in service evaluation and feedback mechanisms.
- Represent Anglicare in a professional manner at internal and external forums.
- Maintain accurate file notes and statistics, complete clerical administrative tasks in accordance with organisational requirements and contractual arrangements.
- Participate in team-based activities and processes including team de-briefing, staff and student induction activities, program planning activities, team meetings, training and skills development, and offer support to other team members as appropriate.
- Participate in regular self and service reflection, research, supervision and professional development.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines and by working in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of oneself, other staff members, clients and visitors to Anglicare.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Education, psychology, social work. Nursing, Counselling and Allied health) or extensive experience and qualifications (Diploma of Community Services) deemed equivalent and/or clearly demonstrated experience in in Community Services. Applicants with crisis intervention and/or child and youth residential support is considered highly desirable.

The successful applicant will be required to:

- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category)



including NDIS Worker Screening Check;
- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- complete a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical;
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Drivers Licence.

On commencement, the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
