Salary range from $109,323 to $120,457 per annum (dependent on qualifications & experience) +12.75% superannuation

This position is based at our White Rock Campus in the vibrant tropical city of Cairns.

As our Secondary School Counsellor, you will provide professional counselling, wellbeing support and early intervention services for our students in years 7 – 12 and across our school community. About the role

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Providing short-term counselling, wellbeing support and early intervention services to students.
- Supporting students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges.
- Conducting assessments and implementing appropriate counselling and wellbeing interventions.
- Maintaining confidential, accurate and professional records in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Working collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies to ensure appropriate support for students.
- Providing professional advice and support to staff regarding student wellbeing matters.
- Facilitating wellbeing programs, group interventions and student support initiatives.
- Assisting with student protection processes and responding to wellbeing concerns in line with legislative and school requirements.
- Supporting the School's pastoral care framework and wellbeing initiatives.
- Contributing to wellbeing education programs, parent information sessions and professional development for staff.
- Participating in relevant wellbeing, pastoral care and multidisciplinary meetings.

- Committed to child safety, wellbeing and safeguarding practices.

You will also bring:

- Qualifications in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Social Work or a related counselling discipline.
- Current registration with AHPRA, membership with the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association, or accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers, as applicable.
- Experience working with children and young people
- Student Protection Officer experience and knowledge of child protection requirements.
- Experience in counselling within a school environment (highly regarded).
- Current Blue Card or Queensland College of Teachers registration.
- HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting and HLTAID009 CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
