Role overview

The purpose of the Computer Network and Systems Engineer role is to design, implement, manage and optimise the organisation’s computer networks, systems and infrastructure to ensure they operate securely, efficiently and without interruption. The role is responsible for maintaining high‑performing network environments, resolving complex technical issues, supporting system upgrades, and ensuring the reliability, scalability and security of all IT systems.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, design, develop, deploy, test and optimise computer networks and system services to support organisational requirements.
- Manage configuration and operational readiness of all network systems, ensuring reliability, security and uninterrupted performance.
- Troubleshoot,



diagnose and resolve complex network faults and technical issues to maintain smooth system operation.
- Research, analyse and recommend improvements or enhancements to network architecture, system design and emerging technologies.
- Implement, manage, maintain and configure network hardware, software, servers, routers, switches and related infrastructure.
- Monitor, assess and optimise system and network performance, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and stability.
- Provide technical and user support, offering guidance, issue resolution and system assistance to staff across the organisation.

Qualifications and skills

- Recognised qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in network engineering, system administration, or infrastructure support.
- Practical experience managing enterprise systems, servers, networks, and virtualised environments.
- Strong capability in troubleshooting complex technical issues and supporting operational IT environments.
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, LAN/WAN networks, and cloud systems.
