Tell me about this role:

We are seeking a talented Modelling & Simulation Engineer to support a major Defence capability program through the application of modelling, simulation, and analytical techniques.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist advice on capability performance, operational effectiveness, requirements validation, and acquisition decision-making. This role will see you analyse complex systems, develop representative operational scenarios, and conduct simulations that inform critical technical and capability decisions. You will engage with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and technical experts to deliver evidence-based assessments that support capability development and acquisition outcomes.

What will I be doing day to day?

- Develop and maintain modelling and simulation requirements to support capability assessments and acquisition activities.
- Design and execute operational, engagement, and performance simulations to evaluate system effectiveness.
- Develop realistic operational scenarios and simulation environments that support capability analysis.
- Conduct trade studies and comparative assessments of capability options, architectures, and solutions.
- Analyse technical and operational data to assess performance, interoperability, and operational effectiveness.




- Support requirements validation and evidence-based decision-making through simulation outputs.
- Identify capability risks, opportunities, and performance limitations, providing recommendations to stakeholders.
- Assess the effectiveness of sensors, radars, missiles, command and control systems, and related Defence capabilities.
- Produce technical reports, assessments, and recommendations for Defence stakeholders and governance forums.
- Collaborate with Defence, industry partners, and technical specialists to support project outcomes.

What sort of skills do I need?

- Relevant qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research, or a related discipline.
- Experience in modelling and simulation, operational analysis, systems engineering, or capability assessment within complex technical environments.
- Strong understanding of simulation methodologies, analytical techniques, and performance assessment practices.
- Experience conducting operational, mission-level, engagement, or systems-based simulations.
- Ability to analyse complex technical and operational data and translate findings into clear recommendations.
- Experience supporting capability development, requirements validation, acquisition, integration, or introduction into service activities.
- Experience conducting trade studies,



comparative analysis, and evidence-based decision support.
- Understanding of system performance, interoperability, architecture assessment, and operational effectiveness.
- Experience working within Defence, aerospace, land systems, command and control, radar, sensor, missile, or other complex engineering environments.
- Current NV1 Security Clearance (minimum) or the ability to obtain one. NV2 clearance will be highly regarded.
