Troocoo Government are partnering with a valued Queensland Government client to recruit multiple AO3 Customer Service Advisors to join a Rapid Response team for the upcoming disaster season.
These positions will form part of a frontline response team providing timely and compassionate customer support during significant weather events and other periods of increased demand.
This is a fantastic opportunity for customer-focused individuals looking for meaningful work with flexibility. The roles may particularly suit university students who can commit to the initial full-time training period and are looking for ongoing casual work alongside their studies, as well as candidates from customer service, contact centre, retail or hospitality backgrounds.
These casual contracts will commence on 21 October 2026 and run through to 30 April 2027, with the possibility of extension and there is no working from home at this time.
Successful candidates will initially complete a mandatory two-week, full-time induction, Monday to Friday from 8:30am–4:30pm, based in Zillmere.
Following induction, you will be provided with a minimum of 20 hours per week and work across a rotating roster. Depending on operational requirements, this roster may include weekend and after-hours work, particularly during significant weather events and periods of increased demand. These shifts are not guaranteed, so candidates will need to be comfortable with hours varying in response to operational needs.
During disaster response periods, you will also be required to increase or adjust your availability at short notice and work where the operational need is greatest.
You will receive training across a range of frontline service areas, including community recovery assistance, emergency response and housing support.
About You
We are looking for resilient, adaptable and customer-focused people who genuinely enjoy helping others.
You'll be comfortable working in an environment where priorities and demand can change quickly and where the customers you're supporting may be experiencing challenging circumstances.
You will ideally bring:
- Previous customer service, contact centre, administration, retail or hospitality experience.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- A calm, empathetic and qualified approach to customer interactions.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Strong computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Reliability and a strong commitment to scheduled shifts.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including potential weekend and after-hours shifts.
- Capacity to increase your availability during significant weather events and peak response periods.
- Full availability for the mandatory two-week induction period.
Important Availability Requirements Due to the nature of the Rapid Response team, flexibility and reliability are essential.
Following induction, you will receive a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours depending on operational demand. Your rotating roster may include weekend and after-hours shifts; however, these are dependent on business requirements and are not guaranteed.
Candidates must also be available to attend the entire two-week induction period from 21 October 2026 - applicants who cannot commit to the full induction period should not apply.
Why Apply?
This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable Queensland Government experience while contributing to frontline services that support Queenslanders when they need it most.
Whether you're an experienced customer service professional looking for your next government contract or a university student seeking flexible and meaningful work alongside your studies, we'd love to hear from you.
Applications will be reviewed immediately due to the fast turnaround for this recruitment process, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
Please note: only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
