Major Account Manager – Waste & Environmental Services

About the Role
701 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Major Account Manager to join a well-established Australian business operating within the waste management and environmental services industry.

This is a commercially focused role combining major account management, client retention and new business development. You will manage an established portfolio of key customers while actively identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities.

Working closely with operational, fleet and management teams, you'll ensure customer expectations and contractual requirements are met while driving profitable revenue growth, account retention and long-term business relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and grow a portfolio of major commercial accounts
- Build strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers
- Identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities
- Drive client retention, revenue growth and account profitability
- Develop account strategies and assist with tenders and proposals
- Manage pricing reviews, contract renewals and commercial negotiations
- Monitor sales targets, KPIs, margins and customer satisfaction
- Work closely with Fleet and Operations to ensure effective service
- Forecast sales targets and monitor performance against agreed KPIs and budgets
- Conduct regular client meetings, account reviews and presentations
- Monitor customer satisfaction and respond proactively to service issues
- Work closely with Fleet and Operations teams to ensure recent and existing business can be serviced efficiently within collection routes
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales, meeting and account performance reports
- Monitor market activity, competitors and emerging business opportunities




- Identify opportunities for new services, products and solutions based on customer and market needs

About You To be successful, you will ideally have:

- Previous experience in Major Account Management, Key Account Management, Business Development or Senior B2B Sales
- A proven ability to both manage existing accounts and generate new business
- Experience managing large commercial customers and contractual accounts
- A demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop prospects and convert new business
- Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of pricing, revenue, margins and profitability
- Experience working towards sales targets, budgets and KPIs
- Strong negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence engaging with decision-makers and senior-level stakeholders
- Experience preparing proposals, tenders or account strategies would be highly regarded
- Solid reporting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure successful service delivery
- A proactive, commercially minded and customer-focused approach

Requirements:

- Double COVID Vaccinations (Mandatory)
- Own Transport
- National Police Check - or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)

Experience within waste management, environmental services, transport, logistics, industrial services or another service-based industry will be highly regarded.
