About the Role

The Civil Engineering Draftsperson will be responsible for preparing, modifying and maintaining detailed technical drawings, plans, layouts, schedules and engineering documentation associated with civil, hydraulic, fire protection, remedial construction and building-services projects.

The successful applicant will work closely with engineers, project managers, technicians, contractors and other project stakeholders to translate engineering concepts, site information, measurements and technical specifications into accurate drawings and construction documentation.

The position will have a strong focus on engineering drafting, technical documentation, site measurement, calculations, quantity assessment, construction detailing and preparation of as-built documentation.

- Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, modify and maintain detailed civil engineering drawings, plans, layouts, sections, elevations, schedules and technical documentation using AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
- Prepare engineering drawings and documentation associated with civil, hydraulic, fire-water and building-services infrastructure, including hydrant and sprinkler pipework, pumps, tanks, valves, service routes, equipment locations, structural supports and associated construction works.
- Undertake site inspections, field measurements and investigations to record existing structures, dimensions, levels, service locations and site conditions for incorporation into technical drawings and engineering documentation.




- Interpret engineering instructions, architectural and construction drawings, specifications, engineering reports and technical information and convert them into accurate drawings, construction details and project documentation.
- Collect and analyse site and project information and undertake measurements, dimensional checks, calculations, quantity assessments and material take-offs to support engineering and construction requirements.
- Assist engineers with the preparation and coordination of civil, hydraulic, fire protection and remedial construction documentation, including service layouts, clearances, access requirements, penetrations and associated structural or building elements.
- Review, revise and update drawings to reflect engineering instructions, design changes, site conditions and project requirements, and prepare accurate as-built documentation following completion of works.
- Review drawings and completed works against engineering documentation, specifications, project requirements and applicable standards, identifying discrepancies and preparing drawing amendments where required.
- Prepare and maintain drawing registers, revision records, technical schedules, site measurement records and other engineering documentation throughout the design, construction and maintenance process.
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, consultants, contractors and technical personnel to obtain and clarify engineering information and ensure drawings and documentation remain accurate and coordinated.

Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants should have:

- A Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction Design, Civil Engineering Design, Engineering Drafting or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant experience in civil engineering drafting, civil design,



construction documentation or a related engineering setting.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Civil 3D, Revit, BIM or other engineering design and drafting software will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed technical drawings, plans and construction documentation.
- Ability to interpret civil, structural, architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Good understanding of civil construction and building-services principles.
- Experience undertaking site measurements, surveys or field verification.
- Ability to undertake dimensional calculations, quantity calculations and material take-offs.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.

Previous experience within the fire protection industry is desirable but not essential, provided the applicant has strong civil engineering drafting skills and experience.
