Senior Technical Business Analyst

About the client
Our client is a large, well-known Australian consumer business with a solid digital engineering capability. They're investing heavily in emerging technology, including AI-driven automation, and offer a collaborative, flexible working culture.

The opportunity
You'll sit within an engineering team as the link between the business and technical delivery, turning business needs into clear, buildable solutions across order lifecycle and fulfilment processes. You'll work closely with engineering teams to understand how orders move through complex systems, identify opportunities to improve and automate processes, and help shape how AI can be applied to improve operational workflows.

What you'll do

- Break down business requirements into actionable technical specifications
- Partner with engineers to design intelligent automation and AI-enabled workflows across order management, fulfilment and downstream processes
- Analyse end-to-end order lifecycle and fulfilment journeys, identifying opportunities to simplify, optimise and automate processes
- Own the technical backlog, ensuring stories are well defined with clear constraints, API mappings and data flow diagrams
- Help decide where AI adds value over traditional logic across business and fulfilment processes
- Analyse and re-engineer business processes for an AI-first environment




- Lead requirements workshops with a focus on technical feasibility, and define clear acceptance criteria
- Act as a technical product owner for your domain, coaching other BAs on working with engineering
- Lead backlog refinement and planning, breaking work into manageable pieces and helping the team manage dependencies and risks

What you'll bring

- 5+ years' experience as a BA working directly within engineering teams on complex digital products
- Experience working across order management, fulfilment, supply chain or other complex operational workflows is highly desirable
- The ability to turn a vague business request into API integrations, data models and logic flows
- A good understanding of how AI agents work, for example how an LLM uses tools or APIs to complete a task
- Strong experience writing technical user stories and managing a backlog in Agile environments
- Familiarity with distributed systems and considerations around reliability, maintainability and scalability
- Technical literacy across API design (REST/gRPC), SQL/NoSQL databases and system integrations
