DFP Recruitment is seeking experienced APS5 and APS6 Qualitative Research Officers to join a Federal Government agency supporting an key program of work relating to disability supports.

These positions will contribute to the design and delivery of public consultation, qualitative research and evidence analysis. Working across the full qualitative data cycle, you will help collect, analyse, interpret and present consultation findings to support evidence-based assessments and high-level decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in qualitative research, thematic analysis and consultation, particularly within government, health or disability environments.

Key responsibilities may include:

- Supporting the design and implementation of public consultation activities
- Developing and refining consultation materials, survey content and public communications
- Liaising with internal stakeholders regarding legal, privacy, IT and other requirements
- Transcribing and quality-checking audio and video submissions
- Preparing and organising qualitative data for analysis
- Coding qualitative data and identifying key themes and patterns
- Conducting rigorous and consistent thematic analysis
- Synthesising consultation feedback into clear findings and insights
- Preparing summary reports, presentations, charts and data visualisations
- Supporting the communication of findings to inform senior decision-making
- Contributing to additional research, consultation and evidence-related deliverables as required

To be successful, you will ideally demonstrate:

- Experience conducting and/or analysing qualitative research
- Strong knowledge of qualitative research methodologies and thematic analysis
- Experience using qualitative analysis software such as NVivo or similar
- An understanding of sources of bias in qualitative analysis and strategies to mitigate these risks




- Strong analytical and written communication skills
- The ability to synthesise complex information into clear, accurate findings
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative working skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple deliverables
- Experience developing consultation or research materials

Experience undertaking qualitative research within health, disability or government environments will be highly regarded, along with relevant academic qualifications.

These opportunities are available at the APS5 and APS6 levels on an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extensions of up to 18 months.

The positions are based in Melbourne and are expected to commence as soon as possible.
