We are seeking up to five experienced Qualitative Research and Evidence professionals to support a significant public consultation program focused on disability supports.

These opportunities are available at APS5 and APS6 equivalent levels and will suit professionals with demonstrated experience in qualitative research, thematic analysis and interpreting complex evidence. You will play an important role in collecting, analysing and presenting consultation findings to support evidence-based decision-making.

About the opportunityWorking as part of a specialist evidence and research team, you will contribute across the full qualitative data lifecycle — from consultation design and data collection through to analysis, synthesis and reporting.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues and internal stakeholders to ensure consultation activities are appropriately designed, implemented and supported, before analysing the resulting structured and unstructured qualitative data.

Your insights and reporting will contribute to high-level decision-making relating to disability supports.

Key responsibilities

- Support the design and implementation of public consultation activities
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to support appropriate legal, privacy, technology and operational arrangements
- Assist with developing and refining consultation materials, including surveys and public communications
- Transcribe audio and video submissions using manual or approved automated transcription tools and verify accuracy
- Import, organise and prepare qualitative data for analysis
- Code qualitative data and identify emerging themes and patterns
- Undertake thematic analysis using NVivo or similar qualitative analysis software
- Apply appropriate strategies to identify and mitigate potential sources of bias in qualitative analysis
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure analysis is rigorous, consistent and evidence-based
- Synthesise consultation findings and identify key insights
- Prepare clear and accurate reports, summaries, charts, presentations and other data visualisations
- Contribute to additional research,



consultation and evidence-related activities as required

About you
You will have demonstrated experience in qualitative research and analysis, with the ability to work confidently with large volumes of structured and unstructured information.

You will ideally bring:

- Experience conducting and/or analysing qualitative research
- Strong knowledge of thematic analysis and qualitative research methodologies
- Proficiency in NVivo or similar qualitative data analysis software
- An understanding of potential sources of bias in qualitative research and strategies to minimise their impact
- Robust analytical skills and the ability to identify meaningful themes and insights from complex information
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate research findings into transparent, concise reports and presentations
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team environment
- Experience developing consultation materials or working with stakeholders would be highly regarded

Experience in health, disability or government-related qualitative research will be highly desirable.

between $54.59 for APS5 and up to $68.94 for APS6 + super.

Eligibility
Applicants must be Australian citizens to be considered.
The initial engagement is expected to run for six months, with breaks over public holidays including the Christmas/New Year period. Longer breaks may be negotiated where appropriate.
