Southern Cross Care QLD is seeking a Casual Domestic Assistant to provide laundry and cleaning support at St Mary's Residential Aged Care Home in Raceview.

About the role

In this role, you will be an integral part of our Domestic team at Raceview, helping to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

This role includes a combination of cleaning and laundry duties, completed in accordance with established work routines, infection control requirements and workplace health and safety procedures. You will help maintain resident rooms, bathrooms and shared areas, as well as ensuring residents’ personal clothing is appropriately sorted, washed, dried, folded and returned.

A positive “can-do” attitude is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide services with care and respect for our residents.

What are the key responsibilities?

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Cleaning resident rooms and bathrooms to a high standard.
- Cleaning common and public areas across the site.




- Completing cleaning duties in accordance with established schedules and work routines.
- Sorting residents’ clothing in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
- Washing clothing according to appropriate wash programs and individual resident requirements.
- Washing, drying and/or hanging and folding residents’ personal clothing.
- Distributing personal clothing to residents.
- Cleaning laundry lint filters in accordance with manufacturer instructions and established work routines.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering laundry and cleaning supplies, including washing powder and cleaning products.
- Receiving goods and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards or damaged equipment.
- Respecting residents’ privacy, dignity and personal belongings while maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming setting.
- Complying with Workplace Health and Safety and Infection Control policies and procedures at all times.

What will you bring to the role?

- You will demonstrate compassion, sensitivity and respect when working with older people.
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning and/or laundry services is desirable.
- Experience working in Aged Care, healthcare or a similar environment is highly regarded.
- An understanding of safe cleaning practices, including the safe use of chemicals and cleaning products.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage your time effectively and work positively as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work across a range of shifts and days, including weekends as required.
