About the Role:

OzHarvest’s FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) Program empowers primary school students to be changemakers in their communities by improving their nutritional literacy, food waste awareness and understanding of their impact on the environment.

The FEAST Project Lead is a fixed-term, part-time, national role created to redevelop the FEAST primary school program. The program is currently delivered as a single 10-week unit; the Project Lead will redesign it into a series of smaller, flexible units that reflect recent national and state curriculum changes, including the shift to explicit teaching and updated curriculum outcomes – including the NSW curriculum updates that become mandatory in 2027 – and new AI in education policies and protocols.

You will work across OzHarvest departments and with external stakeholders – including curriculum authorities, teachers, schools and subject matter experts – to gain insight into the best resources and evidence to inform the redevelopment. You will run multiple teacher focus groups, online and in person, and develop an evaluation model to test whether the redeveloped program is meeting teachers’ needs, while continuing to deliver on the behavioural change outcomes OzHarvest aims to achieve through FEAST.

This role will suit someone who enjoys research-informed curriculum design, can translate curriculum policy changes into practical, classroom-ready resources, and can bring internal and external input together into a cohesive program.

This is a fixed-term, part-time position worked across four days, between October 12, 2026, and January 28, 2027. The role is national and is worked largely remotely, with some domestic travel required.

Key Responsibility Area 1: FEAST Program Redevelopment:

- Lead the redevelopment of the FEAST primary school program, restructuring the current 10-week program into a series of smaller, flexible units.
- Map and align the redeveloped units against national and state curriculum frameworks, including updated curriculum outcomes and the explicit teaching model.
- Ensure the redeveloped program meets the NSW curriculum updates that become mandatory in 2027, as well as relevant requirements in other states and territories.
- Embed new AI in education policies and protocols into the program’s content, resources and teacher guidance.
- Develop and update supporting resources (unit of inquiry documents, lesson plans, student activities), using Canva and other design tools to produce professional, engaging materials.
- Update the online FEAST platform and resource library to reflect the redeveloped program structure.





Key Responsibility Area 2: Stakeholder Engagement and Research:

- Work across OzHarvest departments (Education, ACE, State teams, Impact) and with external stakeholders to gain insight into the best resources and approaches for the redevelopment.
- Build relationships with national and state curriculum authorities, education experts and other subject matter experts to inform best-practice program design.
- Conduct multiple teacher focus groups, both online and in person, to test ideas and gather feedback on the redeveloped units.
- Hold regular consultation with teachers nationally to ensure current units are practical, engaging and classroom-ready.
- Research current best practice in food, sustainability and nutrition education, including approaches to AI in education.

Key Responsibility Area 3: Evaluation and Reporting:

- Develop an evaluation model to determine whether the redeveloped program is meeting the needs of teachers.
- Ensure the evaluation model continues to track and address the behavioural change outcomes OzHarvest aims to achieve through FEAST.
- Develop and manage a project plan, budget and timeline for the redevelopment, escalating risks and variances to the FEAST Program Manager.
- Meet weekly with the FEAST Program Manager to report on progress, risks and priorities, and attend relevant OzHarvest team meetings.
- Document the redevelopment process, decisions and rationale to support future updates to the program.
- Ensure a smooth handover of the redeveloped program and evaluation findings to the FEAST Coordinator team for ongoing delivery.

Personal Specifications:

Qualifications:

Essential:

- Tertiary qualification in Education (Primary), Curriculum Design, Nutrition or a related field.
- Experience mapping learning resources against the Australian Curriculum and/or state curriculum frameworks.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- A valid Police Check.

Desirable:

- Experience with explicit teaching pedagogy.
- Background in nutrition, sustainability or environmental education.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:





- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design or redevelopment, ideally at primary school level.
- Sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and state-based curriculum requirements, including recent updates to curriculum outcomes, explicit teaching and the upcoming NSW curriculum changes.
- Awareness of emerging AI in education policies and protocols, and how these apply to curriculum content and classroom delivery.
- Experience translating curriculum policy changes into practical, classroom-ready lesson plans and units of work.
- Experience designing and facilitating focus groups or similar consultation methods, and synthesising findings into practical recommendations.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks or models to measure program effectiveness and behavioural change outcomes.
- Proven ability to build relationships and gather input from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, curriculum bodies and subject matter experts.
- Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools to produce professional, engaging education resources.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting and reporting.
- Experience with (or willingness to learn) OzHarvest’s CRM (Salesforce) and online learning/resource platforms.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, engaging resources for teachers and students.
- Ability to communicate confidently with a diverse range of audiences, from classroom teachers to curriculum authorities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when aligning content to curriculum codes and outcomes.
- Solid understanding of OzHarvest and its programs.
