- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $128,052 to $142,649 + super

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to join our Accreditation and Training team in the Assurance and Biodiversity Stewardship Branch. The role is part of a new team being established to work on improvements to the Accredited Assessor Scheme.

The Senior Project Officer role will be working in a small team focusing on improving aspects of the accredited assessor scheme within the Biodiversity Offset Scheme. The role will provide operational policy advice, undertake operational policy development and independently manage specific complex and challenging projects relating to the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. Knowledge of the current biodiversity offset scheme, compliance process, and/or auditing processes would be advantageous.

About You

You are a highly organised and strategic professional with experience supporting and leading complex business, governance or project coordination functions. You thrive in a fast-paced setting, can manage competing priorities and have a proven ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under tight timeframes.

Key knowledge and experience:

- Develop project plans and deliverables aimed at improving the accreditation scheme and key aspects of it
- Coordinate and/or contribute to development of strategic programs to give effect to policies,



particularly with regard to the biodiversity offsets scheme
- Develop, evaluate and review strategic and operational policy that contributes to the design and implementation
- Evaluate and prepare operational policy advice and program design as required in relation to a broad range of nature conservation issues across government

- Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams undertake policy, legislation and program design and review to facilitate involvement across the organisation in biodiversity conservation and native vegetation issues.

Essential Requirements

- Demonstrated detailed knowledge of the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and experience in biodiversity impact assessment and/or ecological restoration
- Proven capacity to design operational policy and strategic programs for implementation in a biodiversity conservation context.
- Understanding of the role and function of Government with respect to biodiversity conservation policy and legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and work with technical and scientific information in the context of biodiversity conservation programs including operational policy and program development.
