Our client is seeking a conscientious Environmental Engineer to join their team in Queenstown . This role focuses on ensuring environmental compliance for various industrial and civil projects, as well as developing and implementing remediation strategies for contaminated sites. You will be instrumental in minimizing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices within the Eastern Cape region . Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and prepare environmental management plans (EMPs).
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and national environmental legislation and regulations.
- Develop and oversee remediation plans for contaminated soil and groundwater, utilizing various treatment technologies.
- Conduct site investigations, including sampling and testing, to assess environmental conditions and identify risks.
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and monitoring programs for environmental projects.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, compliance, or remediation projects.
- Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA) and permitting processes.
- Experience with site investigation techniques, groundwater monitoring, and soil remediation technologies.
- Proficiency in environmental modeling software and GIS is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
