Before and After School Care Coordinator

North Melbourne Primary School is one of the few schools close to the CBD. The original school was established in 1874. It backs onto Flemington Road, the boundary between North Melbourne and Parkville. The Royal Children's, the Women's and Royal Melbourne Hospitals are located nearby. The school has easy access to the facilities and space of Royal Park.

To cater for significant enrolment growth over the coming years, aninnovative new vertical campus for North Melbourne Primary Schoolopened in 2023. TheMolesworth Street campus caters forP-2 (Junior Campus), while the current Errol Street Campus caters for Years 3-6 (Senior Campus).The two campuseswork collaboratively with students having the opportunity to visit each site for enhanced learning opportunities.

The student community of 800+ students reflect the cultural diversity of the surrounding neighbourhood, including North and West Melbourne, Parkville, and the CBD. There are approximately 45 different nationalities represented across the school community.

The school has a dynamic leadership team consisting of a Principal;Assistant Principals;and Literacy, Numeracy and Technology Learning Specialists, and Wellbeing Leading Teachers. This model is designed to provide stability and structure across both campuses.

The school is divided into eight Professional Learning Teams, seven of them teaching from Prep to Year 6; each team working collaboratively to provide a curriculum that is based on a solid foundation of literacy and numeracy. The Specialist Team delivers comprehensive specialist programs in Visual and Performing Arts (Music and Drama), Physical Education and Science.The language taught at NMPS is Auslan.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program provides students with experiences in planting, harvesting and cooking healthy meals with much of the produce coming from our vegetable garden.

OSHC Service Profile

Biz-E-Kidz is the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)



service at North Melbourne Primary School, operating across the Molesworth Street and Errol Street campuses. The service provides Before School Care, After School Care, Vacation Care and Pupil-Free Day Care for students from Prep to Grade 6.The OSHC program offers before and after care services between the hours of 7:15am - 8.45am and 3.15 - 6:00pm.

The service currently operates across both campuses, with different programs catering for Prep, Junior and Senior students. Before School Care and Vacation Care operate from the Errol Street campus, while After School Care operates across both campuses. The service also provides a Prep Transition Program at the beginning of each school year to support students to become familiar with the OSHC workplace.

Biz-E-Kidz is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children feel a strong sense of wellbeing, empowerment and belonging. The service supports children's agency, encourages participation and choice, and builds positive relationships with children, families and the broader school community.

The service's practice is underpinned by a strong commitment to child safety, wellbeing, inclusion, active supervision and duty of care, and is informed by the My Time, Our Place learning framework and the National Quality Framework.

Biz-E-Kidz operates as a not-for-profit service, primarily funded through user fees and available grants. Any surplus is directed towards the ongoing development and improvement of the service.

Established in 1977 and known as Biz-E-Kidz since 2004, the service is an established part of the North Melbourne Primary School community.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

Biz-E-Kidz operates within the National Quality Framework and is committed to ongoing quality improvement and continuous development of its programs, practices and service delivery.

Following Assessment and Rating processes undertaken at the Errol Street and Molesworth Street services, both services received an overall rating of Meeting the National Quality Standard, with a rating of `Meeting¿ across all seven Quality Areas.
