HDD Superintendent - Horizontal Directional Drilling

Reporting directly to senior management, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of our HDD division.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Lead and manage multiple HDD crews across active projects
- Drive daily and weekly production targets and metres delivered
- Plan drill crew allocation, plant, tooling and supporting resources
- Ensure drill crews are productive and downtime is minimised
- Monitor production performance and identify constraints before they impact delivery
- Coordinate drill shots, site preparation, locating, mud management, reaming and pullback operations
- Manage HDD equipment, tooling, drill rods, reamers, sonde systems and associated plant
- Take ownership of equipment condition, preventative maintenance and breakdown management




- Ensure operators complete daily pre-starts and equipment inspections
- Reduce unnecessary plant damage, misuse and avoidable repair costs
- Work with project and operations teams to develop realistic construction and drilling programs
- Manage subcontract HDD crews where required
- Mentor drillers, locators and developing operators
- Maintain strong standards around safety, quality and site presentation
- Review difficult bores and assist crews with drilling methodology, tooling selection and problem solving
- Provide management with explicit reporting on metres, productivity, downtime, equipment and crew performance
