Description
About the role
Stantec’s Transport Planning and Advisory team partners with clients to deliver practical, future-focused traffic and transport solutions that support the communities we live and work in. We are currently seeking a Team Leader / Principal Transport Planner to join our Brisbane team.

This may include transport planning, traffic engineering advice, transport modelling, economic analysis, feasibility studies, report writing, client engagement and project delivery.
You will also play an important role in supporting work winning, client care, team utilisation and resourcing. You will work closely with the Group Leader, project managers and other leaders across the business to ensure projects are well resourced, delivered to a high standard and aligned with client expectations.
We are currently working on a range of exciting projects, including:
- Social infrastructure
- Major precinct planning
- Growth area master planning
- Rail and road infrastructure and corridor planning
- Stadia and major event planning
Day to day tasks would involve:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting the development of a high-performing transport planning team, including regular check-ins, goal setting and career development conversations.
- Managing and delivering transport planning and advisory projects, ensuring technical quality, client satisfaction,
commercial performance and timely project outcomes.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying business development opportunities and supporting strategic pursuits and proposals.
- Working closely with the Group Leader and other business leaders to manage team utilisation, resourcing, forecasting and project pipeline opportunities.
- Providing technical leadership across transport planning projects, including complex analysis, problem solving, report review, stakeholder engagement and practical transport solutions.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transport Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
- Significant transport planning experience, ideally gained in a consulting environment, government agency or similar organisation.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing clients and delivering high-quality transport planning outcomes with a strong level of autonomy.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- A genuine interest in people leadership, team development, business growth and creating a supportive, high-performing team culture.
