Finance & Commercial Manager | Construction

About the Opportunity C&M; Builders, a dynamic and growing name in the construction industry, has recently partnered with the Johns Lyng Group (JLG). As we enter this exciting next chapter of growth and integration, we are seeking a commercially astute Finance & Commercial Manager to lead our finance and commercial functions. Reporting directly to the C&M; Business Leaders and the JLG Group CFO – Operations, you will be the critical strategic link between day-to-day project operations and corporate financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Management & Corporate Integration: Take full ownership of end-to-end month-end processes, management accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations, aligning C&M;'s reporting framework with JLG Group policies.
- Construction Accounting & WIP: Own the Work in Progress (WIP) and revenue recognition processes. You will collaborate with, and constructively challenge, project teams regarding forecast margins, cost-to-complete metrics, and financial risks.
- Commercial Strategy & Governance: Support contract reviews, variation and claim management, subcontractor agreements, bank guarantees, and insurance policy registers.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control: Lead the annual budget, drive rolling cash flow forecasts, and manage detailed overhead cost controls to identify efficiency opportunities.
- Governance & Equity Reporting: Manage compliance, statutory/tax requirements, intercompany accounting, and reporting related to equity structures and shareholder transactions.





About You

To be successful in this position, you are a hands-on finance professional who loves getting out from behind the desk to interface with project managers and site teams.

What you bring

- Industry Experience: Proven background in Construction Accounting or a heavily project-based environment
- Technical Strength: Deep knowledge of WIP tracking, project forecasting, job costing, and revenue recognition principles.
- Corporate Acumen: Experience working within (or reporting into) a large corporate environment is highly regarded.
- Communication Skills: The ability to influence, build relationships, and challenge project milestones with construction professionals.
- Qualifications: CA, CPA, or equivalent post-graduate qualification is required.
